3000vs60s Sequencer

Hey there,
I have a mpc 60 and love the way i can work with it. Especially because i can use it as main Midi Sequencer in my setup. I like the freedom to choose if i want the internal samplers sound or an better quality s950 sampler or even newer ones.
The only fear i have is that the timing of the sequencer itself is always inaccurate and gives a touch to the sequences i cannot choose because it is always there if i work with the 60.

Now... because I also have a 3000 here for repair i programmed a standard beat on both machines.
the machines control the s950, so the sound source is independant.

I recorded the s950 output 3 times:
1. time : MPC60 triggering the s950
2. time : exactly same sequence on the 3000 triggering the s950
3. time : mpc3000 as syncmaster for the mpc60 which then plays the sequence

I am quite surprised and happy that the difference is not easy if at all noticable.
what do you think?

I think the 3000s internal sampler is faster than the 60s, thats why the 60 doesnt sound as tight as the 3000 when triggering the onboard sampler.

(mh i dont know if I really hear any differences but, a little ibt i feels like that 3000s part has more energy and the last one is the fattest, but i dont trust these feelings)

But you should trust those feelings, that's what music is about!
Even if other people prefer one over the other, you're the one making the music, so you should use the gear that feels/grooves right to you.

Tests like this are hard to judge though, the pattern is too basic, if you added a bass into the 950, had less straight hihats, it may become clearer which grooves better (in that test).

I've done tests like this myself, but only so I learn to know the strengths of my gear, not to hear what other people think, cos other people don't make my music.

I dont want to know which one is sounding better but if there is an obvious difference, because i only have one sequencer so i want to find out if I can really be free with this piece of equipment or if it always gives an unnormal big touch to the music which sometimes is good but shouldnt be the only possibilitiy ... do you know what i mean?

OK, well, I heard little difference, but if YOU hear a difference/prefer the 3000, buy one..
If you find you're not using the 60 anymore you can think about selling it then.
(Hearing a simple demo like this is different to sitting in front of both machines banging out various patterns/experimenting, and listening to the results.)

If you're just using your 60 to trigger the 950, then the advantage of the 60 over the 3000 is sort of lost.
I'd only get a 60 over the 3000 for the cooler sound myself.. But some people like the swing on the 60 more.. it's down to what you think.

well the 60 has a bit of lag sometimes... if you load up a floppy disk song.. (put it in and turn the power on.. then load the params and sequence/song) .. then go right into 'song' and push playstart... sometimes you hear a second before it starts the song.
