UNDO function?

ok i'm new to the 60 (OS 3.10) and i've noticed if you forget to change track and you hit rec+play, it deletes your whole track, kind of annoying, is there an undo function or should i just practice using overdub+play to avoid future mistakes?

Record and overdub are two different modes, the names are self explanatory.

Know what you're trying to do, and just do it...

no need to be clownish... i've been using MPC's for 15 years, started on a 2000 in 98, but the 60 is obviously a lot more old school and takes a minute to get used to.. there actually is an undo function using edit loop, page 96 of the manual..

Technically there isn't a 'undo function' as you would find in a DAW, but if you want to work in EDIT LOOP mode the whole time you're sequencing on the MPC60 then yes you can undo to a certain extent.

Pressing <Undo & off> will remove ALL CHANGES made to the set loop, not just the most recently recorded events. But, if you only want to undo the last recorded sequencer events, you can make EDIT LOOP work for you.

Not sure if this appplies to the Akai OS, I don't have that.

I cant see why this would be annoying, that's whats supposed to happen when you record.

Record = Erase existing midi data and replace with new

Overdub = Add new midi data to existing midi data

Sequencing is pretty much the same on all MPC's so If you forget to change the track, that's on you.

Hope you're enjoying that custom 60.

just go to a new track every time you want to add another layer... you wont have to use overdub, and if you dont like the new addition.. record over it.

lol... i know it's on me dog but mistakes do happen, especially during late night sessions.. i started this topic as i was pissed over losing an 8 bar sequence, but oh well you learn from your mistakes, i am certainly a lot more careful as of now when laying down tracks. obviously it's the same workflow on all MPC's but i was so used to the "undo seq" button on my 2KXL, i kind of took it for granted i guess... i am certainly enjoying other aspects of the 60 workflow though, there is a certain simplicity to it that is comforting !
