Help, dead MPC3000

I've got a dead MPC3000.

When I turn it on all the lights come on and the screen lights up but that's all that happens.

I've tried replacing the memory simms but that didn't help.

Anyone have any suggestions?
Can it be that the internal battery is empty?
Do I need to replace the ROM?
Or is it dead beyond repair?

Its your power supply, same thing happend to mine. Like a $100 fix.

doveski when u had to get a new power supply did the 3000 turn on at all...where any signs of life present?

and where did u send it off to forat / akai ?

Unfortunately, Forat is not an option for me. I'm from Belgium. Sending the unit back and forth to the US will cost me extra import taxes

Does anyone know of a place in Europe where they repair MPC3000's?
Preferably in the Benelux.

I say it is probably your power supply too. ( response on other forum where you cross posted ).

It's probably just the 5 volt line that is down, the other lines will still light up the machine, but the cpu and all hat can't function withoutn the 5 volt line.

shit this guy that my friend knew was sellin a 3000 , the thing wouldnt come on at all, no lights no nuthing....cosmetic wise it wass in greaat condition..without havin the 3000 here does any1 know a few posible reasons why the think lacks life?

Just for the record, I contacted EMI Benelux but they don't support 'old' Akai products. They even don't repair them anymore.

So no luck there, but they gave me the telephone number of a guy in the Netherlands who is specialized in 'vintage' Akai.

yeah it would power up but i just got a blank screen. i sent it to vst in pasadena. it was like $110 including shipping for the repair.

i think the os in flashrom is nuked. That happen to my dps 12i. The flashrom os might be corrupted so they gotta redownload the os. its a real easy thing for them to do but you probally have to send it out. I know a few places in the us that would repair it, but you gonna pay out the ass for shipping.

Just FYI "binger0" ...

The MPC3000 doesn't use "FLASH ROMS" to hold it's OS.

It uses UV-EPROMS ... different things all together.

I revived my MPC3000.

It seems that the white connector located on the Power Supply Board needed to be resoldered.
