Share your knowledge on these two classic MPCs

Hi everyone!!

I would like to ask if someone who has an MPC 3000 with OS 3.11 can do a quick test for me please.

Here is the situation: as the manual says the message "Analyzing sequence. Please wait...” appears once after the song is edited and when the song screen is entered while a long song is selected because the MPC3000 must scan through the entire song to learn where the start of each bar is, what my MPC perfectly does after RECORD OR OVERDUB has been entered in sequence mode, or when i edit the song in song mode.

But when i copy a sequence, and then enter song mode, it doesn't analyze the sequence list and the MPC became unstable or even freeze.. (you imagine the pain when it happens after a few hours of beat making and you lose everything...).

So let's say i have 4 sequence in memory, playing ones after the others in song mode. From the song mode, i would really appreciate if someone can do this precisely please:
From the song mode: press Main Screen, Seq Edit, Copy a sequence (and do it of course), then enter song mode again, and press play start.

Does the message "Analyzing sequence. Please wait...” appears in this situation? With my MPC it does not.., and then became unstable or freeze.

I would like to know if it is normal behaviour or if my MPC does something weird.

The most common situation, is that from a song i want to insert new variations of an existing sequence by turning on or off some track, so i copy a sequence or two, do the mute or unmute, and then go back to song mode to enter those new sequences in the list. But Rec or overdub has not been entered in that process, and the mpc does not scan the sequences, what has to be done i suppose as the memory has been modified and the mpc become unstable or freeze when i start to navigate in the song.

A simple way to solve this is of course to quickly hit overdub or rec before song mode is entered, but sometimes i forget lol...

In short, i would like to know if this is normal or if my mpc do something strange, i hope i explained it clearly and i would greatly appreciate if some one can do this test for me please!

Thank you!

Unable to save the beats as you are making them?

From a quick test with 4 blank 2 bar sequences from power up, no, and then just recording a couple of pad hits into each sequence, no.

No crash, no Analysing sequence message.

Not really tested "while a long song is selected" though.

Thank you very much for your answers!

Yes of course i take care to save often so i don't lose hours of work anymore!

Thank you for the test, from that i guess your mpc is acting just like mine.

To freeze UP the machine it takes a little bit more, there are several symptoms before.

Here is a more obvious one of the MPC getting freaky:

I have one sequence, a few bar long let's say 8. One kick drum on the first step of the first bar and anything then (it's just to make it clear).
Let's copy that seq to 7 new ones by example.
In song mode, if i do the following: Step1: Seq4, Step2: Seq5, Step3 Seq6, Step 4: Seq7.

It all plays fine. But if i delete SEQ1, 2 or 3 (those not in the song, and with a inferior number of those in the song), and then go back to the song mode and hit play: every steps skip the beginning of the first bar of the sequences as i press play!! And at this moment freeze is really close.

As soon as i "force" it to reanalyze the song by simply press rec or overdub, it all gets back to normal...

I find it odd that if the mpc needs to rescan the memory in those situations it doesn't do it automatically like it does after rec or overdub has been engaged, and even more that only mine would act like that lol!!

 3000
