PLEASE HELP ME B4 I BUY AN MPC 60!!!!!!

I CAME ACROSS A DUDE SELLING ONE FOR $550 OR BEST OFFER IMA TRY 2 TALK HIM DOWN TO $400-$450.I THINK ITS A STEALAND DONT WANNA PASS IT UP BUT I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS(IT DOESNT HAVE THE UPGRADE PACKAGE THAT COST $450)WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD PRICE FOR IT?

IS IT HARD 2 FIND .SND SAMPLES I CAN SAVE TO DISK?

DO I HAVE TO BUY THE UPGRADE TO ENABLE ZIP DRIVE USAGE?

CAN I HOOK UP EVERYTHING INTO A MIXER AND SAMPLE DIRECTLY TO THE MPC AND SAVE OR DO I HAVE TO USE MPCEDITOR 2 TRANSFER SAMPLES??(ANY INFO GREATLY APPRECIATED/IS THERE AN EASY WAY TO DO THIS?I ONLY WANNA USE KICKS SNARES SHORT SAMPLES ETC ALL THE LONG SAMPLES WILL BE DONE ON A KORG ELECTRIBE)

Newbie warning number one:

The first art you could master is that of not SCREAMING AT EVERYONE ON THIS FORUM by writing with the caps lock key on.

Now. Answers to guide you.

1: If you can't "find" *.SND samples that are for the MPC60 using the wealth of search engines like Google and others with topics like "MPC sound samples for download" or even "MPC60 sounds" then expect to be flamed.

"I'm looking for sounds for my sampler, anyone know where I can find any" is like announcing to the world that you're too lazy to bother looking.

The alternative to 1 above is to "Make your own sounds". After all. The MPC60 is a sampling instrument.

2: The ZIP drives for use with samplers are 99% of the time SCSI types.
Without the MARION SYSTEMS MPC60 SCSI board and the RLINN 3.X ( or at least the old AKAI 2.14 OS release ) software upgrade you can't hook up to a SCSI drive.

3: The MPC60 has an ECHO mixer that send to an external FX box. Doesn't matter if it is your Electribe or a Publison Infernal Machine ( Sublime to the Ridiculous ) the machine can be hooked up the way you want.

4: Either or both. Most people who use an MPC60 though sample directly into it to get the sound of it's input processing charcteristics.

5: Assuming it is an MPC60 and not an MPC60MK2 ( which has a headphone jack fitted already ) then speak with FORAT in Studio City or VST in Pasadena. If you're not in the USA then let the group know so that you may be pointed in the right direction.

6: I suggest STFW and RTFM. The manual for the MPC60 is all over the place online. That, other forums, websites and this forum ( yes, all 28 pages of it ) will contain most of the information you need.

Do what now? What is this BET-TER you speak of. Is this some sort of foreign language? I was unaware that there was another drum sampler better than the 60/3000. If so, this is news to me. It takes a few extra steps to transfer wav files from disk. You could as LE suggested......actually "sample" the sounds. It is after all a sampler. If you are too used to computer production and cant live without drag and drop there is the 1000. Its not the same as the 60, but its an alternative thats cheaper than the 2000XL, and easier to incorporate into a computer setup. They are pretty inexpenisve used on Ebay... Also americanmusical.com has a payment plan.

thanks for the answers to my questions...its not a matter of me being lazy and not searching for these samples its the point that this machine is old and i wasnt sure if snd files were still existent(im new to the mpc sample file system{well the 60s system cuz if this was a 2000xl id know what i was getting myself into}....as far as the other dude asking me what was a better system that i speak of i was referring to a 2000xl and i didnt necessarily mean better just more up to date and easier to work with/get parts for/etc...

btw im a hardware person i dont use my pc for production just internet usage i dont really wanna become dependent on it is this gonna affect my ability to use the 60 in any way?

Get the MPC 60.The sampler is okay it works great for drums but what is really nice is the Midi Sequencing.It has 2 Midi ins,4 Midi outs and it comes standard with 8 analog outputs should you need to track your beats out.I used the MPC 60 along with several diffrent Akai "S" series samplers over the months that I had one and that combination is pretty potent,has great sound quality and is alot less expensive than all of the alternatives.

Do the knowledge. It is obvious that you have not done enough research in order to determine whether the MPC60 is truly for you. Check these sites and peruse the MPC60's specs and reviews. Compare it to the MPC 2000 XL and see which one you prefer.

It is not a matter of which machine is "better" because that's purely subjective. Many people have their preferences which they feel would qualify their choices as being best. Check for yourself and see which machine will provide you with the resources that will help you to be the most productive.

There is an excellent program called MPC Editor available from midicase.com that will allow you to convert ANY wav files to MPC60/3000 format providing your 60 has the 3.10 software upgrade so finding samples is a non issue. Besides, it is a sampler as was said before so sampling into it will yield the signature sound that so many (myself included) love so much.
