MPC 60II midi feedback loop?

i'm getting some weird issues trying to sequence a moog phatty keyboard from the 60II (3.1OS)

the first pass usually runs ok but then when i'm overdubbing or even just turning knobs or the mod wheel (which transmit midi data) it sometimes freezes the moog, meaning the notes hang and i've got to reboot it. i can't quite put the finger on what's going on, never had this problem when sequencing my nord rack...

could this be some kind of midi feedback loop problem?!

If you have the MIDI out of the Moog going into the MPC, and the MIDI in of the Moog coming back from the MPC, you need to turn off Local MIDI in the Moog.

This disconnects the Moog keyboard/knobs from the internal Moog sound engine, and only sends the keyboard/knob data out of the MIDI out port, to the MPC.

If you don't do this, you can have the same MIDI data going directly from the Moog keyboard/knobs internally to the Moog sound engine, as well as a duplicate, but slightly delayed, set of the same data going out from the Moog to the MPC and back to the Moog internal sound engine via MIDI, which isn't what you want.

If you have already turned Local MIDI off on the Moog, then not sure. Maybe there is too much data for the MPC to handle, might need some MIDI filtering or something. Or possibly a later Moog firmware update might work better, if not on the latest version.

good looking out on the local midi thing, i'll check that one out later but it sounds like that would be it!
