yeah that works... but, if the sound has something unique that goes to the right channel only and it would be missing in the left channel.... and you also want to have that... use a stereo shaper tool of some sort in your daw and mix the right channel into the left channel...
or, add another battery in there.. swap the stereo so right is left, left is right.. also pan that to the left... add the midi notes in triggering the same sounds... (maybe copy paste the midi event or data or notes etc) not sure what daw you have hosting battery... but there are multitudes of ways to blend both sides (channels) into one side. This of course can be done with many things besides battery and possibly more suited than battery... maybe a sample has a panning effect and you dont want it cutting in and out.
