MPC 60 Version 2.0 Beta, Version 2.05, Recovery 2.0 Disk

I stumbled across these three floppies today while organizing some things.





I thought they might be of use to someone here and if anyone is interested I could upload a floppy image of each disk.

The first two floppies allow you to run the earlier 2.05 OS and a beta version of 2.0 OS even if you have the new 3.10e OS EpRoms installed.

I'm unsure what exactly the recovery disk is supposed to do but when I put it in and turned on the MPC at the top of the screen it said "File Recovery Program 2.0" and below it said "please insert disk containing the lost files".

I'll take those disks if you're selling? Were you a beta-tester?

yeah send them to clint or at least send the images/scans of the original... etc

he is working on a potential mpc60 book.. I dont know if it will be similar to the sp1200 book but it's fan service certainly is.

I think the previous owner of my MPC60 was a beta tester. James Raymond was his name. He's the son of David Crosby from Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. He did some songs for a television show back in the 90's called Roundhouse and a few other shows and movies as well along with his Crosby, Pevar & Raymond albums. I have what I'm assuming is most of his floppy disk collection from the late 80's and early 90's.

I will try to get around to copying those disks and posting their images for download.

sweet, and very interesting I must say... those types of things are always cool.

Let me ask though, what will you be creating the disk images with? what computer type, what OS, what type of floppy drive, and what image creation software?

I am going to use a program called "Floppy Image" to make the images since Omniflop won't work with USB floppy drives. I have a Gateway desktop running Windows 7/Linux with a TEAC USB floppy drive.

I just successfully made a floppy containing the copied 2.05 OS image and it booted up in my MPC60 correctly.

this is exactly the info I wanted to know!! thanks.. because as you said about omniflop... I have an iomega usb 3.5 drive... and having to transfer data from my old NEC versa with win95 to the main computer would be a nice thing. Thanks again, I am downloading both right now.

Just thought I might mention the software is a 14 day trial. No restrictions except for the 14 day limit. I couldn't get WinImage or MagicISO to write to the image to a blank floppy for some reason so this software seemed like the best alternative.

I had to make 3 copies of the disk because the first two would hang indefinitely at the boot screen but the third one worked without any issues. So if it doesn't work correctly the first time try making another disk.

ah okay, thanks for the heads up.. I didn't install it yet... so good to know.. I suppose you could always roll back the clock again if you need to start the app after the date.. if that works.

I have tested them by putting the images onto blank floppies and they both work like the original disk.
