Transferring PGM/SND to/from a Mac

so i wanna transfer PGM/SND files back and forth to my Mac for archiving purposes with my 60 & 3000. i'm thinking of getting a USB Zip drive but I'm a little afraid the MPC formatted discs might become corrupt when i load them on the mac. the reason i say this is because that's basically what happened last time i tried to do files transfers with the computer using floppies...

btw never had such problems with the 2000XL but i guess it's because that unit uses DOS format... also does Valixi improve anything regarding computer compatibility?

You can access the first MPC60/3000 partition on a Mac.

I would use a separate transfer only disk...load the PGM/SNDs into the MPC from your normal working MPC disk, save it onto the transfer disk, copy it onto the Mac.

I wouldn't put any normal working MPC disks into the computer drive.

I wouldn't use Zips.

thanks good idea about the transfer only disk.. what do you use if not zips? you got CF drives on all your MPCs??! btw that's quite an insane collection you got there... especially linn sequencers, those gotta be rare as hen's teeth!

I am in the process of testing CF readers to find a good hotswap reader option for my MPC60/3000/ASQ10.

I have a SATA CF reader that seems to work, need to test it out some more.

Yes, collection is insane, no way I could ever make full use of them all, but can't help myself...I think I have an MPC hoarding problem, need to go on one of those hoarding TV shows to sort my s**t out!

don't worry mate you're amongst fellow addicts here.. i have a general drum machine hoarding problem... 3 MPCs here (60II/3000LE/2000XL), SP1200, Tempest, Octatrak, TR707/808/909.. just some of my favorite

anyways do let us know what options you find work best on 60/3K/ASQ10!
