Where to find ACARD SCSI to ATA in Europe

Would appreciate any hints, the going price seems to be around 130 euros. Crazy expensive for a card if you ask me...

Not much to say, except that is *around* the going rate for the correct ACARD's if you can find them. Hot-swappable versions will cost more than the fixed variety. There were a fair few ACARD's selling around here recently, you gotta pick these things up when they are available. They are becoming harder to find by the day and finding their way into loads of SCSI enabled samplers.

Maybe post an ad in the 'Hardware Wanted' forum, can't hurt.

I think the new retail price is somewhere around $250.

They seem to sell second hand on US ebay for around $90-100US.


This seller seems to have them regularly, but doesn't seem to sell outside of the US, or respond to questions from outside of the US...

The one to get is most probably the AEC-7720U, with firmware around the 3.75-3.84 version range, from tests other forum members have done.

ATA is also correct, more specifically PATA (Parallel ATA). ATA is a further development of IDE. More recently the standard changed from PATA to SATA (Serial ATA).


What you need, for hotswapping with a SCSI-ATAPI bridge like the Acard in an MPC3000, is an ATAPI reader (ATA Packet Interface=SCSI over ATA), that works with the MPC3000. There do not seem to be many available models that will do this.

It is much easier (and cheaper) to find an IDE/ATA-CF adapter/reader, which is just a straight electrical interface between the IDE cable and the CF card, without any electronics in between. Most of these 'should' work with the MPC3000 and a SCSI bridge, but will not allow hotswapping.


I'm looking at a hotswap solution that uses a SCSI-SATA bridge, and a SATA-CF reader, but this is about $145 for the bridge and $30 for the drive, once you add shipping + cables and adapters, it starts getting up around $200+.

Any hints for 32Meg of RAM expansion?

Buy it cheap from ebay, or somewhere similar.

You just need 16MB RAM modules that meet the RAM specifications for the MPC3000, should be plenty around for not much $.
