memory expansion affects main out problem

hello guys,

i wonder if someone could help me with the next problem,


i recieved a memory expansion for my mpc60 , finally !

but after installing it, the sample time indeed was extended to 26.2 seconds,
but after loading a program with sounds, it doesn't play the sounds right, lot's of
crackles / hishess etc. And after i took it out, the sounds played right again after i did the power off and on again.

when i turn on the mpc without the expansion board everything works fine again, and when i insert the expansion then ( with the mpc on ) it recognised 23.7 seconds, and the sounds play fine, but that's because the sounds were already loaded..

i alread mailed the seller, but i was curious if any of you has been through a similar problem,maybe i can fix it otherwise..

Please never insert anything into your mpc with it powered on. Especially not a ram board...

Hopefully someone can come up with an answer, I expect someone may of had a similar problem. It could possibly be a faulty ram board, but it's hard to tell unless you have another board you can test, or a tech you can take your mpc to.

Sounds like a faulty ram issue to me. Where did you get the ram board from, who is it made by? What writing does it have on the PCB? (Pics of ram board and MPC ram pcb would help).

The seller has contacted me and confirmed thast there was a slight
mistake , a cable should be soldered on and that would then fix the problem.

Where did you buy the memory expansion from? Was it France? Homemade?

Yes where did you buy the ram?
Who was the seller?

There are several sellers in france who produce new cards.

If these cards are faulty then a heads up would be good for any potential buyers

I think its ram too. I had the same issue with a triton a few years back. I had some old ram and although it lookied the same as what was already installed, it wasnt. It snapped, crackled and popped until I took out the incorrect ram.

yes, i bought it from France..

At first they said it was tested and was ok so the problem should be within my (mpc60 mk1) own motherboard....

Then i send them at their request pictures, and then i got an answer from a guy named David who saw that indeed there was a little connection missing..

I decided to send it back and they would send me a perfect working one...i keep you guys posted...
(i'm not that great in soldering and i tried the connection with a mini little tape but didn't seem to fix the problem, otherwise i could keep it and let it solder )

the communication so far hasn't been that great with them...

i'm sorry guys didn't realise it was him...and i really wanted an expansion sooo badly....

Just a shame he sent you something that could have potentially killed your 60
