MPC3000 STEP EDIT Issue

I thought this may have been noob error but:

Whenever I go into STEP EDIT, 95% of the time, without me making any changes, just going in to STEP EDIT delete's events.

I have 3.50.

So, yeah... anyone else experiencing this STEP EDIT corruption?
I daren't go into STEP EDIT anymore without first copying my sequence because it deletes events

I also have the 3.11 eproms. You think I should switch back to the 3.11 eproms and all will be fixed??

I would switch out the proms myself. It is so easy so why not. Let us know if you do and if it fixes your issue. I know I have been looking for the Vailixi proms but I am to nervous to buy them off the bay due to the stuff being posted. Hope you get your issues sorted out.

To clarify, did you buy the OS from Mansell Labs or elsewhere?

How much memory does it have?

Probably unrelated, but you have both a(some) SIMM module(s) installed, as well as the factory memory board, you might not need/want the original factory memory board installed as well as the SIMM memory.

Maybe you could try it with the factory memory board only, and with the SIMM(s) only, to see if it helps with the problem.

No idea if that would make any difference.


And, if you have two SIMMs in it, are the two SIMM boards exactly the same, or two different types/layouts/components?

I would only run matching SIMMs.

I figured out the issue.
If I press the STOP button when in STEP EDIT, it delete's the current event.
Only had it a few weeks. Still learning it. Can't find any mention of using the STOP button to delete events in STEP EDIT in the manual.

@Simon I have 10 MB. Two 4MB simms + 2MB ramboard.

Good to hear you figured it out. I had the same ram config in mine when I bought it and never had a problem. Just upgraded mine to 32mb. Now to actually use that much ram in the 3000..... Have to get used to that ha.

There isnt a manual for Vailixi, the Akai manual wont help you.

I've only had the mpc3000 for a few weeks so no I didn't buy Vailixi years ago when it was still available. I bought it from eBay.

I deleted the info about where and why I bought Vailixi because it contained extraneous info that I wrote after a few too many whiskey's.
I have Vailixi and I'm glad I do.
I snapped it up in Feb as soon as I saw it come up on eBay, well before I read anything on mpc-forums about illegal eBay reproductions.

Respect the honesty Jim, say no more.

I do wish there was an updated Vailixi manual/addendum tho. Maybe one day some bored sod will just make a Vailixi PDF, like Rohan could have easily done to accompany his product.
