S1000>MPC60 Inverter Swap: connection query

I'm swapping a Nichia NI05-05-5 inverter from an S1000 to an MPC60 Mk1 and unsure how to connect it because the connectors are attached to the board different ways around.

Should the connection to P1 on the original board be to P414 on the Nichia, with the connector turned 180 degrees, and so on for P2/P415. This seems logical, but I don't want to risk a fry up.

Hi i've done the same exact swap and i do recall the inverter is turned 180 degrees on the s1000. Its working very good

Just remember where the power cable plugged when the inverter was inside the 1000. Turn it around, and plug the power cable in the same place once in the 60. The other connection is for the screen

So, what are you going to put int he s1000 ?

The inverter is now quiet but the display is whining. Slightly quieter than the old inverter but two semitones higher. Any ideas?

You get the whine from the display or the inverter?

If it was quite inside the 1000 it should stay like that

The experts on here advise this inverter outputs slightly lower power than the 60 one but should do the job and i can vouch for that

Is your screen bright?

I saw someone saying a new el foil might silence the inverter as long as you know it was quiet when used in the 1000

The whine is from the display, which was quiet with the old inverter.

The backlight was already dim back in the '90s. There's clearly some light getting through, it's brighter than with the inverter disconnected.

I was hoping to sell it without further investment, and as the floppy doesn't seem to work, maybe it'd be better to let someone else have the fun of fixing it.

It's completely stock and non-updated, bought in 1991. While testing it, I realised it had never been used as a sampler, only for onstage sequencing.

... I thought no noise had been coming from the display with the original inverter, but when swapping it back in again, there clearly is.

The S1000s inverter is slightly quieter, and when back in the S1000, at least 60% quieter because its display makes no noise (the S1000 has a dim backlight too).

Im writing here as i also need a new inverter for my mpc 3000, does anyone know which samplers has the same inverter? Mine is looking exactly like this one but the letters below isnt the same
