MPC 3000 Upgrade & Storage

Hey Guys,

Im trying to slowly fix my MPC 3000, I need your help with a couple of things

1. been trying to find storage any internal CF card or zip where can i get them from ?

2. my current OS thats in the 3K its version 3.08, does this affect the storage device i use ?

I'm currently buying a new sensor pad, backlight replacement and (16x2) gold plated memory.

anything else that you think i should get to improve my 3K ?

As for storage, CF will only work if you have a scsi bridge which sometimes aren't cheap - you'd be better off going with an emulator. They have more storage, are relatively cheap, and you'll be able to use a usb stick. As for OS versions - pretty sure some versions will not read zip drives and the like(larger storage). All versions besides Valixi will only be able to see/read a certain amount of space on any drive, ie. zip, cf, jaz. I put up a post about which emulators will work but I took it down because there was a little change of plans on my part. I'll put it back up though.

Will also work with a SCSI CF reader, which are probably not easy to find.

A 1.44MB storage device on a 32MB sampler?...not something I would use myself, or recommend.

Fine on an MPC60 which only has 1.5MB of memory, not so sure on an MPC3000.

I would only run either 3.11 or 3.50.

I was reading online that some early OSs wouldn't register a zip drive, maybe not, or maybe I am[i] confused with the 60[/i]. I only would recommend an emulator because you can use the modern flash drive and its generally easier, plus you can always save on multiple partitions so your really not limited to 1.44mb. However, if you did use all 32mb of space, then ya you'd be switching folders a lot.

if you used all 32 mb, you would be saving for a loooong time, and some samples might be longer than the partition of the floppy image which it would most likely just keep trying to save. I remember having this problem with floppies on the 2000. If the sample it was trying to save was too big for the floppy it would just keep prompting me to insert another floppy.. it did this endlessly until finally i realized what was actually happening. 10 discs in.

trust me, don't waste your time with floppies on a stereo 32 mb sampler!! huge time waster/PITA

I did some research with the floppy emulator and found this website called Lotharek which sells different emulator I'm gonna save some money and buy one to try out

I think you should not buy that for two reasons. 1.) these guys may be right, you should possibly look for scsi storage. 2.) There are no confirmed emulators for the 3000 besides the 720kb versions for the 60, which will not help you out much in terms of storage capabilities.

As has been said, using floppies on a stereo 16 bit sampler is a pain.
You spend ages loading and saving and soon get swamped with floppies everywhere in your room.
Shell out for an Acard 7720U and a Delock 91640 and enjoy.
