Vailixi Hybrid Partition Size Problem

Hi there

With Vailixi, I hybrid partitioned the flash card into some 20` pieces (24 i guess) , each partition is 33mb

even though 1 partition is 32mb , i am not able to fill this partition with fully with SND files, after some amount it is saying partition disk is full . is there a limitation on the amount of files that a partition can take regardless of what size they cost in total ?

I thought i could put as much as SND files into a partition until 33mb.

Or am i thinking wrong.?

Max is 26 partitions of 32MB.

Are you using a CF card reader and filling it up with your Mac or PC?
If so, a heads up - make sure that your sample filenames are 8 characters or less or your computer will truncate and corrupt the files that it has truncated down to the same filename.

I think the 3000 can only hold 128 samples in it at once. That'd be two samples per pad if using the velocity switching on each pad.

How I do it:
I have four CF cards dedicated to Projects, where each Project has it's own partition.
I have one CF card dedicated to drum machines, breaks, sample programs where in each partition I may have up to three different Programs. I don't use it very often as I normally prefer to start sampling from scratch for each Project, but I do like to pull out my breaks programs more often because I put a lot of time and effort into chopping, compressing, processing and getting them to sound good as personal drum kits.
(I actually have an S1000 which I fill with samples and browse through that and sample into the 3000. That's because browsing samples is a lot easier in the S1000).

I have a book where I write down what is in each partition on each card. Without this it would be a true nightmare to keep organised and know where everything is.

Everyone has a different way working :smoker:

I say do your sample browsing outside of the 3000 and only fill it with your best of the best samples that you put into programs.
Also sample in to it rather than transfer. Sampling hot into the 3000 with certain sounds can enhance the samples for the better. Some sounds don't sound good when clipped though.. such as open hats. Experiment.

- I do SND conversion, transfer etc on Mac via card reader
- I use SanDisk Ultra II
- Yes, samples has max 8 characters than ".snd" as extension.
- 808_HH1.snd , for example is this name alright with underscore between ?


I am on same way like you.

I just wanted to load as much drum sounds as i can to the partitions, because, for drums, i like to use samples .

For other atmospheric stuff , i do sampling on the fly with external sources.

I didn't know that you could put only certain amount of files to partition, i thought this is limited to size rather than amount, but now i know it.
Yes S1000 or maybe S950 is a very good idea to use it just as a big storage to sample back to 3000, but therefore you will need to chop again on mpc3000 . (or is there a function to trigger record when the audio arrives automatically?)

Yes, you set the sample trigger threshold of the MPC 3000 in the Sampling page. Mine is usually set to 1 which does a good job of finding the correct transient. 0 makes the recording start straight away.
It's quick and easy to sample numerous sounds into the 3000. It's the renaming that takes a bit longer.
The 'best start' function in the Sound Edit page is also good to use.

I sample individual sounds into the 3000 rather than my 2500 way of working which was to sample bigger sections of audio and then create my chops.

Does this rule of amount of files also applies to a MPC 2000XL partition ?

Well, i have also a 2K XL machine, and if this limitation not applies, than i would get card reader for my 2K XL and work with that.

MPC2000XL has folders, not partitions.

Read the manual to enlighten yourself.
