I recently got an mpc 3000. Everything is a breeze to use and love the feel of it.
One thing I noticed is when changing tracks, either with the soft keys or dial, it switches pretty slowly. Even when there's no sequence data and it's stopped.

It seemed worse today, or maybe I'm just imagining it. It's not insanely slow, but it's like a good 2 full seconds. Is this normal for the 3000? I don't remember noticing this on the 60.

I have vailixi 3.5 if that makes a difference.

Is it limited to changing the tracks? What about flipping through the other screens, digging in the Commands menu etc.?
Do you notice any lag in these screens as well?

Nope just changing tracks. I used the init paramter data feature in the 'other' page, and for a moment I could have sworn it was much faster (if any lag at all) and then it went back to how it was before, so now I doubt it ever happened. (it was only like that for 10 seconds or so).

It's just a shot in the dark so don't take my word for it. But it can be connected with OS chips. That's why I asked you that question in my previous post.

I have heard similar stories from people using bootlegged Vailixi chips in their machines. But it was also affecting the other screens, not only tracks, so I'm really not sure this is your case. I don't need to know what chips you use in your machine, you know your stuff. Just food for thought.

Anyway, try to re-seat both OS chips, RAM, and check all the connections. Not sure if it will help in your case, but it doesn't hurt to try. It can be some more serious issue with your machine though.

Hi,

Thanks, would you be able to test something for me, or someone else on their 3000?

If I move the cursor to seq I can scroll the sequences no problem, the cursor is constantly flashing. If I move to track selection and scroll through, the cursor disappears for a second or so, and then it changes over. So you can't fluently scroll through.

If it's normal it's not a huge deal. thanks!

Edit: Checked, highly unlikely chips aren't legit.

Hi,

Anyone able to test this? Just see how fast your scrolling through tracks is. It would really help me out.

Something else strange I just noticed is that when on pad bank A and using the note repeat feature by holding the timing correct button I get a weird chirping sort of noise without even holding any of pads. Just pressing the button gives a 16th notes of this weird noise, and it records too! Doesn't happen on the other banks, and if there's no samples loaded it doesn't happen either.

Edit: ok the note repeat only happens if I load from a disk (floppy) - no idea what that means.

Any ideas?

I'll check that for you when I come home as I'm at work at the moment. But I'm pretty sure the cursor is flashing / moving the same regardless the position and I can scroll smoothly on all screens and positions.
