Mpc 60 mk ii stopped working with scsi installed

Hi, need help. My mk2 stopped working with scsi board installed. I start iomega zip250 with diskette inside, then turnin on mpc. Searching for scsi drive for 5-10 sec, then i see main screen but no buttons working. When i disconnect scsi board inside, works perfect.

Which SCSI board?

Well if you've tried to install the SCSI interface, which you got from ebay, and the MPC doesnt work, where do you start?

Clearly an issue with the SCSI interface, or the connections to it. I've had a few that worked one minute, but not after being disturbed by removal. But you say this came from ebay, so its been shipped? was it even working to begin with? do you have the correct OS? can you test it with another machine? clean and reseat the connectors?

If I were you I'd put reasonable effort into troubleshooting, but consider returning it if you are within your rights to do so. It may be a simple issue to resolve, or it could be money down the drain.

I'm sure there are tests you could do to check for faulty components and the like, but I wouldn't know about that kind of stuff...

Clint, It was working for more than a year! Thats why im asking for help. Is it dead? Last month it was working not as good as before. Zips loaded sucsessfully on startup 2/6 times. I have iomega 250 zip. But i think problem is not in zip, because when i got my scsi board connected inside but no cable connected, mpc frezzes too after booting main screen.

Sounds like you should send the SCSI board to your nearest tech dude for repairs.

A pain in the ass, yes. Wierd, no.

20 year old components and solder can fail at any time, that's what you buy into with old samplers. Luckily replacement scsi boards are available with brand new components.

In your case, see if Jazzcat can repair it for you or sell it on as spares or repairs. That's what I would do, and have done in the past.

Also worth noting is the 'Rev' number on an official Marion systems scsi interface. Rev 1.1 is more likely to fail than 1.4, which is why I asked which board you had. All Marion scsi interfaces are not exactly the same, I'd expect rev 1.4 to be more reliable than others.

I'd love to send it to jazzcat for repair, but i live in russia and shipping will cost like 1/2 price of new board + of course i have to pay for repair. Gonna find chip soldering master here. Thanks

I meant send the scsi board itself, not the whole machine.

But yeah, try a local dude first for sure.
