Application to boot MPC 60 II floppies on Mac OSX?

I've got an MPC 60 II with the original OS. I've formatted a floppy and I've got a USB floppy drive that works with Mac OSX. I'd like to be able to mount the floppy on my Mac OSX Powermac with OSX 10.7.5 just so I can throw some 12 bit sample .wav files on there.

1) Is there software that will allow me to mount the MPC floppy on OSX?

2) I'm assuming my MPC can read .wav files, is that correct? If I need to convert them to SND files, how would I do that?

Judging from your other threads, I think you should learn about the machine and how to actually use it in the conventional sense, before jumping to other stuff. I believe you were asking what sample floppies to buy? and you assume the MPC60 reads .wav files?

Its usually better to understand how something works, rather than being told how to do this that and the other. Take your time, be patient. Don't worry about converting and transferring files, DO SOME SAMPLING INTO YOUR MACHINE to understand what its all about.

Why buy an MPC60 and then bypass its AD converters? May as well be using 'vintage mode' in software...

Naturally, the answers to your questions are in the MPC60 bible and elsewhere.

My question wasn't a request for someone to judge my other threads, but if anyone had actually read them they would know that I AM doing sampling with the MPC 60 and trying some old tricks I learned about when researching the machine as well as reading interviews with performers who use this specific gear.

It can also be seen that I created my account a few of days ago, which could be a mitigating factor if someone has the curiosity to wonder if that date might just coincide with my acquisition of the machine. Which it is.

Also, if we take it on ourselves to advise other people in how they should go about educating themselves, we're likely to be familiar with kinesthetic learning (learning by doing) which is what I'm doing while reading materials and watching the videos. If that offends anyone, then I'd advise a nice long walk in a city to get used to different people.


Moving forward, if anyone would like to constructively answer my question as to whether or not there's a software for OSX (I'm using 10.7.5) to mount MPC floppies, I'd be interested in learning about it while I'm also reading the materials that are available to me.

Since you're new to this, you might as well get the 3.10 upgrade right now and learn that from the outset. No point starting with an OS that won't enable you to do the things you discovered during your "research". And while you're at it, decide whether you really need to keep the floppy drive, and invest in a CF card reader. As before, this is my opinion, take it or leave it.

in which case the answer would be only buy sample disks for the MPC60. Some MPC3000 samples will work if you have os 3.10 and the samples are small enough to fit in the MPC60's memory.
