distortion when sampling kick from vst instrumentdrum module

anybody run into this problem? a lot of the kicks clip on the 60's meter, and sound distorted, obviously when I sample them when clipping. but when I try sampling without clipping, they sound super low.. what is up with THAT!!??

i cant help you with the 60 but when i sample my audio from the computers outs to my 3k it always sounds like sht.

On what level do you have the input signal switch (on the backside of the 60) ? There are three different levels if I'm not mistaken. I usually have mine in the middle.

well, it's not coming directly from my soundcard (MiaMIDI), it's going through a mackie 1202 then to the 60.. but still, this is real strange.

bit of a hassle, but maybe I'll put it onto tape and sample from there.

I tried the input level at mid and low.. low was even worse..
