ok, another problem now... scsi zip drive

ok, so I'm working on a beat.. some time passes by and I notice the zip drive stop spinning, the green light is on, but it looks like it's on standby or something.. when I try to save the 60 screen just goes blank. like, nothin'. boom, lost everything.

I remember moving the 60 a bit, maybe the scsi cord jiggled around too much? or do I need the zip drive to keep spinning for it to work?

2nd time it's happened and **** up my day..

ZIP drives do sleep after a while of non-activity.

Rather than saving to the ZIP drive when it is sleeping...

... wake it up by ejecting and re-inserting the cart or re-scanning for SCSI device from the appropriate menu in your MPC...( or in worst case scenario, power cycling the drive )

Once the disk is awake and recognised you will be able to save it without issue.

NOTE: The MPC60/MPC3000 SCSI system re-inits hardware from sleep state in most cases when you goto the change or make active menus. If this doesn't happen and you have to resort to power cycling your drive or ejecting and re-inserting your cart then it's possible your SCSI device may be faulting.

I thought power cycling can damage the scsi board? I wouldn't risk it, just go to disk then the scsi menu and hit make disk active. If that doesn't work go to load, if that doesn't work eject the disk,and if that doesn't work pull out some floppies and save your shit before powering both down and checking the scsi connection.

The sleep mode is normal, but if it isn't waking up check the connection with both powered off and if that fails get a new zip. pretty much what Rohan said.
