MPC 60 II pads always playing at 127 velocity

Simply, seems it's very hard to play the pads of my 60 II so that i'd get anything less than 127 velocity. This is easy to inspect in step edit, for example.

Is there a part I should change? The corx? I don't get any double taps or any of that; they're sensitive enough alright...too sensitive.

there are corx installed in it? are the pads the original? also, midi in isn't achieving the same results right?

I don't know if there are corx; I just noticed there's a corx part being sold; should improve sensitivity.
I don't know if the pads are original; I'd guess so...at least they're the OG color, and not the Fat Pads.
Midi in seems to capable of receiving any velocity (tried feeding into step edit from my DAW, and any velocity does get registered).
