Help with cutting sample length when retriggering

Hi,

I've recently bought an MPC3000. I have been recording, slicing and editing samples for playback. My question is about retriggering samples during playback.

If I trigger a sample multiple times before the triggered sample has actually ended, how do I make it that the following samples do not "echo" on top of each other, but instead the sample already playing cuts out and is replaced by the retriggered sample?

Yep. Set to Mono to do this hitting the same pad. I hope you not trying to do this over different chops though or you might be disappoint.

A friend of mine who use an Sp-555 was mad when he discovered his 3k didn't have the ability to mute a sample and start another chop by hitting a different pad than the pad that was hit previously before it. He sold it shortly after finding this out

At the time I didn't have a 3k so I didn't know to tell him about the "cutoff" feature that allows you to programmatically do this. Don't know if he knew about this at the time, but it still not as easy as the SP 555. While the cutoff feature can accomplish what he need it to it's a bit of a pain because you have to set each pad...and there's a limitation of only being able to set a pad to cancel one of up to two DIFFERENT ones immediately played before it. I don't mean to digress but hope this info is useful to someone that doesn't know.
