joy and pain!!

Ok i got my mpc 3000le (which i have wanted for the longest)
everything seems fine but for one thing i have a iomega zip drive 100 connected it is recognised and i can sample and SAVE to it no problem but when i try to LOAD my newly saved files from it i get LOADING (the name) SND file but thats about it!! it just sits there even when i have no more than one SND the same thing nothing i can load from the internal floppy no problem (they are professional disks pre made)
I know yall are good people so if you can help it's appreciated

Hmm...

Tell us about your IOMEGA ZIP drive.

Flip it over and look on it's base.

What is it's "MODEL NUMBER/REVISION".

Could be a bad model or a faulty drive.

May also be the wrong type of drive ... a "ZIP PLUS" model.

Possiblity also that the drive may be incorrectly terminated.

thanx for hittin me back it is an iomega zip 100 i think it's just dying on me i got it to work out of desperations i disconnected the scsi cable and changed it around after blowing on the connectors and it worked i was able to save and load for almost 30 minutes before it started freezing up when in the middle of loading a snd file and kept on freezing each time i tried on the same SND file stange so i stopped trying for a while disconnected and tried again and it began to work again strange but true

it was used with my akai S6000 sampler for years before i got it and still worked ok for a year
i just wish they would make an up to date USB to SCSI adapter cable to connect my mac directly to mpc3000le

i've been having trouble saving lately.

have you tried using a different disk? save something onto another disk and try to load it up from there. maybe its that.

or maybe its the drive itself. sounds like the drive. what ID is the zip drive set to on the back? i usually have mine on 5...

smoove i got my ID set to 5 as well i think it's the drive but i had tried another disk which i formatted but it had an error when trying to format
so now i'm looking for a scsi 250 plus a usb 250 for my mac smoove thanx for taking the time out to throw me a line

The model number revision seems ok from memory. ( no where near my documents about bad ZIP models right now ).

I think your drive or it's power supply are failing after a period of use.

Try cleaning the ZIP disk heads or changing the power supply for another.

Connecting an MPC3000 directly to a MAC or PC via SCSI would be pointless as this machine doesn't support sample dumping via such a connection protocol.

A USB <> SCSI adapter in this regard won't change the situation either.
