Possible to Install Internal Zip in 60?

i know this topic has been posted before but there wasn't really any answer. i really want to install an internal zip on my 60 but i'm not feelin having to send it to forat and pay a ridiculous amt of money for this. also the scsi converter upgrade i feel is just as expensive. has anyone successfully installed a zip in their 60? if so please holla at me with the details. i found an example of how to do it on the 3000 @ http://www.mpc3000.com/zip_install.htm but somehow think it would be a diff't intstallation on the 60. is this true?

Read the instructions for the 3000. Carefully open your 60 up paying attention to the details given. You will find that it is not difficult at all to figure out. I bet you a dollar that if you understand external SCSI you will be able to do it. All you gotta do is really LOOK at whats going on inside the MPC. Its not Rocket Surgery.

Before I even attempted to post a question on here about it, I looked inside mine. Within 10 minutes I was online shopping for parts.

When you figure it out you are probably gonna laugh out loud at how simple it is.

good lookin with the reply right away. do i need the scsi upgrade already though to install an internal one? cuz that would kind of defeat the purpose of me getting around the expense. when you go on forat they require you to have that upgrade for them to install the internal zip. if you could be any more specific with the installation i would appreciate it. i've installed stuff on my computer before but never the mpc. thx.

You gotta have that upgrade for it to work. Thats the only way it will work. The benefit of internal SCSI is that its all compact inside the box. No messy wires and connectors and power supplies and the like. There is no way around the extra cost though. The 3000 instructions really give you all the info you need. I dont know what else I could even tell you that would help. If you have the MK1 dont lift the top up too fast.... do it slow cuz there are wires attached still. I imagine the MK2 is the same. The whole thing is a matter of buying the upgrade.. buying a few extra parts...unplugging a few plugs...and plugging the new stuff in.... more or less... Its not very complicated. Not at all... once you open up the hood it will pretty much make sense. I figured mine out from reading that same 3000 page.

I asked about this a few weeks ago but everyone said not to do it as it would likely break my 60. They were just being cautious I understand. But a friend from work has giving me a internal scsi for free and I know where another one is for 10 bucks. When I checked a few weeks ago, one of the connectors on the 3000 site was out of stock at the company that is linked. Jrides, where did you obtain the connectors? What prices? I havent opened up my 60 yet but I will be soon as I need to replaced the backlight. How different do you think it will be on the 60 as compared to the 3000? Let me know if you do it Jrides.
