Hey Ya'll, recently I finally got my hands on a 3000 and I'm so, so pleased. That said, I'm going through and trying to bring this sad 3000 to perfect working order. So far I've:

- fixed the sync noise on the headphones (by changing the grounding, thanks to this forum),
- put in Kanamit's LED screen ( 8) this thing is bright!)
- replaced all of the tact switches (it really needed it)

and ordered:
- max ram
- new pads/sensor
- scsi drive

All that said, I've noticed that I have sync tone on the audio inputs, which I can only hear when I'm sampling (obviously). When nothing is plugged in, it's dead quiet. When a (unbalanced) cable is plugged in and it isn't grounded on the other end, I have LOUD sync noise. When a (unbalanced) cable is plugged in and grounded (plugged in on both sides), I have a quiet, but audible (sync?) tone. Kind of sounds like a 1k tone.

Anyway, should I try to fix this with the same grounding trick used for the headphones? Or is this a sign of a different problem? I went around and made sure all of the pcb/ground screws were tight, but that didn't help, unfortunately.

Anybody experienced this? Thanks so much!
