My MPC60 mk1 has seen better days. I have the weird ghost note sample ram issue, and the pads sometimes double trigger. My Play/Start tact switch is broken as well, and my screen backlight is completely out. I have been told to take it to Forat, but also am worried that the wait time might be very high. I have a tech that has worked on it before, but wasn't comfortable working on the RAM issue, as he mostly has experience with analog synths. Anyone have a good US repair tech that could fix my issues, as well as upgrade the backlight of the screen AND possible upgrade to Vailixi OS?

I have no idea why a tech would be "uncomfortable" working on a RAM issue for the 60, when the RAM is literally detachable. It just doesn't make sense.

His experience with analog synths is more complex than diagnosing if a few of the 64k chips on the RAM card is functional or not.

The best suggestion you have since your tech is being weird, go collect bottles, cans and scrap metal and use the cash earned from that to send it to Forat.

The screen and Vimana (Vailixi is only for the 3000) can easily be sourced online from any of the regular sites. It'll be cheaper for you if you just order them in advance so you have them on hand for whatever tech you decide to send your machine to.

It's quite possible that since he did the repair on the ultra cheap that he just rushed it back to me. I do know that they don't like working on samplers, and especially Akai gear, at this shop. I guess I could send it to Forat but my worry is that it will take a year. At this point though, there is so much cosmetic repair needs that I probably should, my buttons are really not responsive. Thanks for the input and I feel less afraid to take it to someone.
