difference between 2000.snd & 3000.snd

is there possibly a difference in .snd files? ones for the 2000, 2000xl, and different ones for the 3000/60??? im having trouble loading some .snd files that were dloaded from the internet, and im not sure why...

There is a difference.

MPC2000(XL) loads MPC2000(XL), MPC60, and MPC3000 snds.
MPC3000 loads MPC3000 and MPC60 snds.
MPC60 OS 3.1 loads MPC60 and MPC3000 snds.
MPC60 2.x loads MPC60 2.x snds.

i think i was trying to load 2000(xl) .snd files, which wouldnt work cuz im on a 60 w/OS 3.10e...

i know this may seem backwards but... is there any way to convert the .snd files created by an mpc60 w/OS 3.10e into .wav files? ive tried wav2snd, but that doesnt work, i dont think you can do it with the MPC EDITOR either... im not sure if the 60 .snd files are PCM or not but, it says that the DAC/ADCs are 16bit, but that the data is stored in 12bit non linear form, whatever all that would mean in this situation...

If you're on Windows, MIDICASE MPC-EDITOR or FMJ AWAVE STUDIO ... if your on the MAC, SEISHU MpcPgmMaker.

Load up the *.SND files in these apps and export them in the MPC3000 format.

Then they'll load into your MPC60 with the Roger Linn 3.10E software.

ive tried to export the .snd with MPC EDITOR in the mpc3000 format and it tells me "this is an invalid file type"...

im not trying to convert to .snd, im trying to convert MPC60 .snd files (not 2000(xl) .snd files) into .WAV files... i want my samples from the mpc60 to be converted to .wav files so that i can edit them on the computer...

Are you certain the *.SND files you have obtained from the net are from an MPC

Or are they the Motorola *.SND / *.AU format ....

This other type of *.SND is often confused as an MPC type of file when in fact it's VERY different.

Try out AWAVE STUDIO.

It will tell you what the input sounds are for certain.

Run it in batch mode and convert many files at once from just about any format to nearly every other format. ( batch may be restricted in demo mode but you can at least try them one at a time per session )

A worthy addition to the toolkit.

With this and one of the other MPC editing tools you won't be beat ....

i am trying to convert mpc60 .snd files that i myself sampled into the 60... i want the sounds that i sampled into the mpc to be converted into .WAV files for editing on the computer...

ive tried AWAVE AUDIO with no luck, but i dont think that is the same thing as AWAVE STUDIO...

Exactly the problem.

AWAVE AUDIO doesn't deal with MPC types of *.SND files.

AWAVE AUDIO deals with the Motorola/SUN *.AU/*.SND format.

A VERY different format indeed.

You will need to use AWAVE STUDIO which deals with the MPC types of *.SND that you're wanting to work with.
