MPC3000 or MPC60 II

Which one im into making hardcore trance

i can get MPC60 with missing floppy 4 £400 fair price?

I can get Mpc3000 ltd in mint condition £1000 fair price?

or neither for trance music

if so wich 1 and why?

I'd go with the MPC 3000. I am also in the market for one and I have looked at both closely. I currently have a MPC60II. The 3000 gives you more memory options for loops and such (up to 32MB). The MPC will limit you to 1.5MB with extra RAM installed. This is fine for drums but when you want to add some loops it is a limit that is hard to overcome. I am into house and hip hop so I have some choices to make. I really want to go to just a 3000 so I can make use of filters and several loops in memory. If I stay with the 60 I will have to get another sampler to handle the loops and other instruments. The sound characteristics of each machine are different but I have not heard a 3000 so I can not comment on that aspect.

hi i have a s6000 already and a 909 but want to be able to us it to create drum patterns

or should i just get a mpd 16?

a 60 and a 6000 is a good combo.

For most people, the 3000 is better.

Getting floppies can be hard, the cool thing about mpc's s the sequencer. You'll want 3.10 OS and scsi on the 60, so if that isn't there the 3000 has it all.

60 is good but i think its overrated. make sure you get the scsi + os upgrade. if you have other gears go for it, but if not i think 3000 is a better pick. you also get the liberty of sampling more at once with 32 megs of ram. i always felt loading/ saving time on my 3k was slow but the 60 is alot worse! people argue the crunch issue but 3k sounds crunchy enough for me. just gotta sample from the right source @ right level. i also used s900 for the 12 bit sound but its all about the what goes in the sampler, not the bit rate... well, im sure all of this has been said already

exactly. but you mentioned slow loading times, os 3.11 solves this.

what rack sampler would i use w/ a 60 3.10 for my non drum samples?? i want to sell my 2kxl for a 4000 or 60/rack combo..peace.

an emu one , that's the s h i t for electronic music .

emax is cheap and effective. nice filters and plenty of crunch
