EMAX 1 - How to control it with an SP-1200....

This is a bit off topic or even forum but i'm having some trouble with my friends EMAX and his SP1200. I own the MPC-60II and S950 combo *1010 Production* so I figured it's a legitimate question.....heheheh

Anyhow. Does anybody have the basic tutorial for setting up an EMAX 1 Rackmount with the SP-1200. We have tried numerous settings but we can't figure out how to trigger samples on the sp1200 while still playing samples out of it. Is it possible or do you have to use one or the other. Basically we want our drums to come out of the sp-1200 and the music loops and such to be produced from the EMAX1.

I heard that you have to lose a pad to use it to trigger external samples, but I find that hard to believe. I find the sp 1200 manual doesn't adress this.

Any experienced sp users know how to sequence external gear with the sp?

Drum, try using a pad that has no sample assigned to it, and check the midi screen for note number assignment.

oh and on the emax, you need to go to master, then the midi screen (use the slider or the up down buttons) and set the midi channel there everytime.

Is it an emax SE HD or just the emax? I have one so I can answer basic questions. I use it alot but don't really mess with the features too much except the filters.
