I have two MPC's, a 2000XL and a 60(version 3.10). Right now, I use the 2000XL as the master sequencer, to sequence my Triton and Reasons. I have a Proteus 2000 that I want to use, but I don't have enough MIDI outs on the 2000XL. Since the MPC 60 has 4 MIDI outs, I figure I can just set it up as a slave to the 2000XL. I have the Triton MIDI OUT going to the MIDI IN A on the 2000XL. I have the 2000XL MIDI OUT B going to the Tritons MIDI IN. The 2000XL's MIDI OUT A is connected to the MPC-60's MIDI IN A. I have the Proteus MIDI IN A going to the MPC-60's MIDI OUT. I want to be able to:

1. Sequence the grimey 12bit drums of the MPC 60 on the 2000XL
2. Sequence the Proteus 2000 sounds on the 2000XL

Can someone tell me if I'm doing this right ? If not, what's the correct way to accomplish this ?

Peace,

RedGreenz

Why not get something like the MIDIMAN 3x8 and use it to give more MIDI outs to the 2000xl.
I got really use to the extra MIDI outs on the 60, but using the MIDIMAN gives me 3 MIDI inputs that I can route to 8 different MIDI outputs.
Make yourself a template on the the xl and your straight.
I go from my 60 to my xl all the time and never seem to care about the difference in MIDI I/O.

I got the same through box and I love it, much better than just using the 60 as a through box, won't really be easy since you'll have to set different sequencer tracks for each module.

Just use the 60 as master if that's how you want to do it, or get the throughbox, your xl can controll 32 midi channels, the 60 has 64.

Thanks for the tips everyone, I really appreciate it. Using the MPC-60 as the master seems to work as I had hoped. Slaving the 2000XL to the 60 did the trick.
