The samples to me are lacking something important but i can't put my finger on it ---- maybe they just sound too cheesey for my taste--- reminds me of goofy underground hiphop....but the overall execution was better than a lot of other sh!t I hear on these boards.....thanks for sharing.

hey tk - listened to a slew of your beats and honestly homey - I think you should start focusing on the compositions and quality of the music - it almost feels like you have 300 incomplete beats - You might want to consider structuring out your beats and using MORE samples - That chopped up sample arrangement is cool and all but doesn't work for a lot of people. Think about layering pianos - bass guitar - strings - fx - etc. Think about listening for that really dope sample rather than just using an OK sample. And if the smple is really dope how can you rearrange it and make it even iller!?

Experiment more....I mean a lot of the tracks I listened to are dope, but they just leave a lot to be desired. I'm shooting for a more professional sound in my music every single day and with lots of trial and error and experimentation you too will surely come a long way. Keep doing your thing thing...peace.

Mainly, I concentrate on making simple beats and focus on quality of a loop, whether it sounds good. Almost only I sample my samples from LPs, this way there is a bigger chance that the beats will have more original and individual sound then those made with additional samples for example from akai or emu. It is obvious that the sound can be changed but I constrain myself to change only sampling frequency and using one filter. Unfortunately, I experience difficulties getting LPs.

I try to imitate Primo, but he, except making great loops and sounds, uses additionally original cuts in refrains and intros. After that there is an issue of achieving final result in studio. The beats which you were listening to were, I am afraid, of low quality made at home. I think that after adding cuts and good MC, whole project would sound much better. However, I know it may not suit to people. If you say about what is broadcasted in MTV, then in my opinion, hip hop has become commercial and it is not obvious to me is it still hip hop or simple pop?

Well compsed, but not my style. I think someone said "goofy" before. That's true to me. Reminds me of some old Mr. Live / Toni Bones sh!t. Not that that's a bad thing. Just not my taste. This is well composed. Maybe it's a UK thing. Toni Bones stuff always sounded like that.
