Let me preface this post by telling everyone that I have done the SCSI Card Reader modification in my 2000XL and I have built many a computer plus I have searched, and I frequently visit www.mpc3000.com for reference, so keep the flames in your thrower.
Now, I have purchased all the parts necessary to make the hook up and it seems like a very simple job. I've opened the MPC 3000 and Im ready to get goin, seems like at most a 15 minute job. But here's the thing.
The Power Connector.
The power connector on the back of the ZIP I receieved resembles a normal small four pin floppy connector. I have extra power connector parts and the floppy connector I have fits perfectly.
This is diiferent from the internal SCSI card reader mod I performed in that that reader accepts the large four pin power conenctors that all IDE devices take as well. So I had to peform the famous power connector modification.
My first question is will this drive work correctly with the 3000? If yes, would a power connector mod even be necessary as the power supply in the 3000's floppy looks like it would fit into the zip without a problem. I am just not sure that that power connector is supplying the right voltage to power the zip without any modification......
Zip Model is Z100Si
