ii/II/2 - it's all the same thing.

so that one is the latest and greatest in the 60's right? can ram be expanded, can it hold a zip?

There are only two 60s.

The original MPC60 and the 60II. They are the same thing except

They look different - 60 has a little wrist pad thing on it
and
The 60II has a headphone jack that the 60 doesn't have

Other than that they are the same thing.

Ram can be expanded but not too much. I forgot the exact amount. A quick search can help you on that. And yes you can put a zip drive. I'm not sure if you can do an internal one but you can get a SCSI one if you have a SCSI upgrade on the MPC.

The MK II's came with expanded memory, but you still ought to check cuz some people pulled it out for other MPC's. I like the MK I better, but it'sreally the same thing more or less. OS 2.14 came with scsi, but you should still check if it has the scsi board. If you get one with 3.10 or any 3 OS, you should still check for scsi, just cuz the connectors there doesn't mean it's scsi.

The truth is that the MPC 60 Mk II was a cheaper version of the original. The only difference between them with the exception of the aestetics was the headphone jack. The original is built like a tank, metal casing, and leather armrest. The Mk II was built of molded plastic to make it more affordable. The inside is the exact same except for the display. Both get the job done, but the original is that PIMP! As far as the "3000" sound and thickness it is 12- bit so the drums can be crunchy but that still depends on the original sample and what you do to it before or after you sample it. I think you'll be happy with your purchase though, GOOD LUCK!

yup, just like Djames said, pointless, the 60's are the same internally, so if you want a mk I case with mk II guts, just buy a MK I !!

Maaaaan, when I bought my 60(2) around 2 years ago, and spent $800(without the 3.10-really good cond) I remember driving home looking at that tank saying to myself," I love the look, I hope I made a wise investment." Well, if it were not for me geting the 60, I would have never met the likes of ELMACACO, MR. 60. And I would have never got back into using my 303, skooled me on MIDI, man, if you wanted to, you could teach this shyt.
It's like the 60 brought me to all these great people here in the forum.
The 60 is more than what meets the eye, to me it was a life changer.
Now, I always thanks GOD that I got the 60, but hey, DESTINY AND FATE.
Years from now we will look back at this forum, these people we met, all cause of the 60.
One day I hope to meet Elmacaco, Dstruction and others.
Sorry for the rant.

^haha, no doubt. my beats are garbage, but I feel like the 60 is my fam cause it's so damn old and big...and yall are my fam cause yall got 60's. We should have a 60 convention, nerding out and shit, imagine the picture of like a 1000 60's all together. THAT would be the real MPC 1000..haha. We could get Roger Linn to do a seminar...

ehhh, I gotta get some sleep

Yeah man, the 60 teaches me all sorts of stuff, it's bigger than me still.

I like helpin people out, and I know a lot of people here who I would love to chill with, I think if we pooled together we would create a really cool beat community.

I think the closest group to us 60 owners are the OG 2000 owners, where the MPC is looked down upon because the XL has more, but in some way it has it's own thing that people sometimes prefer. In 10 years they might be as cool as us ;) (just kidding guys)

Andreas, you are fam at this point dude. That beat you just posted is so viby man, real dope.
