s950 and 60 16 levels??

ok, now that i have the 60 and 950 communicating, how do i set a sample from the 950 so that i can play it at different values ie. 16 levels or alike.

16 levels will not work with an external sampler, what you haveto do is to set a keygroup range so that the sample is spread across a bunch of pads chromatically.

side question about 16 levels using just a 60:

elmac, when i try using 16 levels only about 3 or 4 pads play chromatically higher and the rest of the pads are the same as the OG sample note value, none have lower not values.

which pad should i program the sound to in order to hear a wider range of both higher and lower chromatic note values?

depends, if you sound compressed it( to shrink it to half memory size) then you get no lower voices just higher, if you convert a 3000 sample to a 60, like when importing a mpc editor snd or pgm it will only go up so much, If you set center pad a 13 you'll be fine but if you drop it to cener pad 10, then the highest 3 pads have the same pitch as pad 13.

what is chromatically? Do you mean that i have to manually put the sample at differeny pitch values ie. creating different samples and then assigning them to the closest pads. or is there is an easier way that doesn't require mean to actually create new samples?? And as always, thanks again...

OK joust,

hit the midi button,press 1. choose master, then hit the pad number one in the first bank A with no light on the bank 2 button, hit the lower left hand pad, and change it's number to 35, then hit the next one to the right, change it to 36, then keep moving left to right, bottom to top, when you get to pad 16, change bankc and start from the lower left again, but one number higher than the number you used on pad 16 in the previous bank, so if the pad 16 on bank 1 is 50, the first pad on bank 2 is 51. When you finish with bank D, then go back to the menu and choose program, and set it up the same way. it will make using the 950 much easier.

Your old Programs will load with their old midi assignments, this will work on all new programs. if you are using the mpc editor, then you need to save a blank program (right after you boot the machine, after you;ve done all the midi assignments) and put it on disk, then put it into the computer and open it in the MPC editor and load your samples into it from there, that will keep the assignments.

you are assuming i havethe os uograde on the 60 right? Directions are not for the 950, right??

yes, assuming 3.10, but it should work on the old os too.

Not 950, this just makes your pads like the keys on a keyboard, bank A pad 1 is the lowest note and bank D pad 16 is the highest, black and white keys in order.

that way in the 950 you can make a keygroup that spans and you'll have it like 16 levels on the pads.
