How hard is it 2 install the 3.1 upgrade?

I just received the 3.1 upgrade for my MPC-60. I want 2 install it myself but I don’t want 2 risk damaging it. The cat that does all my mixdowns said that they look like standard EPROM chips and that it should be simple but old boy does this on the daily. My fear is that I open her up, realize that I’m in over my head and have 2 pay the tech 2 install the upgrade and fix whatever I flowers up. Na mean??? Uno.

its not hard at all. you take out the 4 chips that are in your mpc60 then put the new 3.10e chips in. one of the chips is a little tricky but easy none the less. just make sure you put the 3.10e chips in the correct order. good luck i did this myself and i am no tech.

well its in a odd place a little cramped area thats why i said it was tricky. the chips are a little bit tight coming out and going in so just take your time and everything should go smooth. like i said make sure you put the 3.10e chips in there right spot. you should be ok good luck

The upgrade comes with instructions for fitting the EPROM kit.

Check it.

Observe the label on each EPROM and make certain that it replaces which ever matching chip is in your unit already.

Observe and confirm too that you are inserting the EPROMs the correct way around.

Oh ... and be gentle with handling the EPROMS so as not to bend pins.

the way I see it, if you can install memory cards, hard drives or pci cards in your comp, the 3.1 OS upgrade isn't a far stretch..

What's the max RAM you can have installed for a 60?

I did it. It wasn't difficult at all. Kali, I see what you meant about the space being cramped (Chip #1). It seems like it runs faster now. Does anyone know how i can make my old samples play in my old sequences? In the 2.0 OS i had 2 load each sound to a particular pad i.e. bass drum, etc. I can load the sound but i don't know where it went. When I play the sequence only certain sounds play. Any ideas appreciated. Uno

any easier/ or more difficult to do on a 3000?
