echo send + filter

I just wanna make sure I got this straight before I go out and buy a filter.

I use my 60 as a standalone sampler/sequencer. I would like to incorporate a low pass filter internally into this setup without having to buy another sampler.

From reading the manual (which doesn't exactly spell out the echo send function) I have deciphered that if I hooked up something like a moog low pass filter, I could then run the sounds of each pad through the filter and back into the machine. Is this right?

Also, can I control the amount of filter applied to the pads by adjusting the volume on the echo send mixer fader? So for example if I want to filter out the high frequencies on a bass sample that is on a pad I would just move the level on the echo send mixer for that pad to a low value. Is this right? I also thought that I read that I could adjust the level of the echo send to each pad both with or without simultaneously adjusting the volume on the sound.

Finally, if all of this is right, will I be able to hear the adjustments through my headphones that are plugged into the 60, or does the adjustments just apply to the sounds running out of the individual outputs?

Can anyone verify or debunk my assumptions?

Alright, No, the echo send mixer only effects the volume of the sound going to the effect, it wont do anything to the cutoff, unless it's got an envelope follower on it, but if you use it for more than one sound that will get thrown off. you are better off putting the filter on a mixer insert on the individual out of the sound you want to filter, or sample it through the filter.

The echo return comes out the main outs, not the individual outs, and that kind of control over the amount of each pad that goes to it is much better suited to a reverb effect, a delay effect, or even a distortion. You had it right that if you really want filtering like that you need to get a rack sampler (950's fit well with 60's and are cheaper than moog filters) or get a MPC3000 if you really want it in the box.

If you have a mixer and your individual outs going to it, EQ can go a long way, but the 60 was meant to play well with others, and a rack sampler really hooks things up.
