No, I wouldn't choose Zip, or internal HDD, I would use a CF or other type of memory card reader.

Sounds too good to be true huh? Cheap, silent, bright. Well maybe it is...read on.

A very handy and extremely cheap replacement, as the chances are you will not find the original inverter, or inverter board, unless someone is breaking a 60 down for parts. Which hardly ever happens.

http://www.ebay.co.uk

The original MPC60 and MPC3000 inverters seem to output somewhere around 95 VAC at 500-550 Hz...This replacement says it outputs 233 VAC at 4.2 kHz...Anyone know what this difference in inverter output voltage and frequency would do to the LCD backlight, would there be any negative effects or changes in brightness?

Having made some enquiries about this USB invertor with people who know about these things including Matt (saint_baz) who supplies my EL foils, I'd have to say that while the USB invertor is cheap, works silently and gives a backlight which is much brighter compared to the original part, you should note the following.

Consider the OUTPUT VOLTAGE, which is more than DOUBLE that of the original part. Think of the damage and risks that could potentially be caused by this voltage hike in the medium/long-term. Use this AT YOUR OWN RISK, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PART AND WILL BE REPLACING MINE. :Sigh: :!: :!: :!: :WTF:

This at 5v is alot closer to the original output voltage. This at 6v gives out 77v, which is alot lower than 240v. It is a little bit bigger, but is alot closer when compared to the original spec. Maybe clint could alter the link in the 60 bible with this inverter instead.

As requested, all the original links have been removed from this thread.

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and as user MPC60-II (3.10).
Could I have your opinion?

I have buy scsi hard drive with like 4.5 gb on ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-5GB-Akai-MPC6 ... 460e201978

But my Mpc can not find the hard disk.
I do not know who to ...
Does someone has already succeeded to run an external hard drive with the mpc.
Otherwise, I should perhaps point me to another system backup?
What do you think?

Thank you

we've had several people who have bought storage devices from this seller come onto this forum asking for help.

whats the score - are they not prepared to give customer service??

you know your 60 will NEVER see more than a small amount of that 4.5GB don't you?

Thank you for your reply,

I gradually discovers everything about the world of sampling and especially the MPC60.
The seller told me to try to go to OS 3.50 to attempt a reconnaisance of the hard drive.
I think I'll stay on a ZIP drive 100mo. It will be easier and I'm sure it will work.

Thanks

reading what you have just written will be a real :Sigh: moment for most people on this forum.

I'll break it down:

> there is no 3.5os for MPC60

> if they are advertising it working for the 60, it should WORK! with no need for funky upgrades

> a 4.5 GB external fixed drive is massively wasted on the 60, as the max space your 60 is going to see of that 4.5 GB drive is 400-600 meg (forget the exact amount, the info is on these forums some where) - and that will be in partitions of XX meg in size.

> a floopy emulator is MUCH MUCH cheaper and will replace the floppy drive too for £45ish - or a compact flash drive in a external enclosure, would mean you can have loads of different cards rather than one massive external drive.

hope some of that helps.

MPC60 when using a bass note on note off with 16 levels mode (tuning) end of sample klicks some way. Sample is clearly recorded and click noise is cause of 16 levels.. Its pretty annoying. Any solutions?

Something updated would be awesome…(broken link) nothing like FORAT etc, like a DIY project.

(Regarding floppies) If your updated 3.10 OS is not reading your older OS 2.10 HD floppies (errors*) try firmly covering the hole on the right hand lower side of the disk with tape. That should allow the disk to be read at 720k like the older DD disks and possibly read the disk. Also if your sound sets are not installing as a whole, try loading the sounds individually and back them up to another form of media so you can have a backup. Oddly enough the npc will sometimes load sounds individually and won't allow it to load in sets.
