60 beats

Its official, had my 60 for a week now. Got my floppy fixed over the weekend, got some new side panels in the mail from vst, dsdds are in the mail from 66. Now if I can get this tuning issue worked out Ill be cool. Anyway I made a couple of beats the last 2 days, my first 2 on the 60 or any mpc. What do ya think?

Did you ask the guys at VST about the 16 levels problem? They can be pretty helpful over the phone.

Does it happen with the Note variation slider tuning as well?

pretty cool. my only suggestion would be to NOT FORGET THE BASS! i'm one of those people who strongly recommends adding some type of bass (on every beat) to give the beat that 'flowing' characteristic. it doesn't need to be some crazy sic bassline either. just something to accentuate the kick and 'move' the beat along.

thread jacking in progress: how can i use the 16 levels function so that i still get different tuning levels WITHOUT the sample pitch getting affected? it works fine for those SHORT STABS at different pitch levels with short, chopped samples, but what do you do if you want to keep the sample length and tempo? for instance, say you have a 2-bar guitar sample but you want to use 16 levels to bang out say three different octaves with the same sample time so that tempo is NOT affected?

my understanding of time stretch (i'd need to use the s950) is that you can modify sample LENGTH without affecting pitch. but i want the same sample length and tempo, just a different octave. i used to play guitar a lot so say i wanna play the same scale at a higher and lower octave grouping while keeping the same tempo as you can easily do with a physical guitar. how might i accomplish this on the 60?

Yeah El I think Im gonna have to call vst tomorrow see what they say. Its so strange I get the normal sound and then the octave below but only if the center pad is set to 13, and it happens with the slider. Im not trippin too hard though its just more training.

I got to say I love the 60 man. I havent learned all about this thing yet but its pretty simple work. I need to read up on the sequencer cause Im not sure if I made those beats correctly. I made like 10 different seqs then just put them together with the song mode. Maybe thats how its done? Im still reading the manual.

word. so i can see how you use the 16 levels function for those short transitions, huh? i'm thinking i'm using it in the same manner but i can't figure out how to make it do what i want for it to do yet. you could very well be right about this lacking capability.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree with you about the bass. I new to the 60 so I was havin some troubles laying somthing down proper. Plus my tuning feature isnt working so I have to sample each note seperately that im gonna use. It will make things take a little longer but in the end probably just make my beats better.
