I agree. They put WAAAAAYYY too much on the 4k. I know a few people who bought 4k's last year and quickly sold them to get 60's, 3000's and 2000XL's.
If you look on eBay, you will see a gang of 1000's, 4000's and 2000's (XL and classic) up for sale. What you won't see is a shytload of MPC 60's cuz people seem to be catchin on to the fact that the old school Akai MPC's are indeed the s**t. I had a 1000 in the beginning, but I dumped it for 60 about 3mos after I got it. The overall sound of the machine, in my opinion, was weak. The drumz didn't hit like they do on a 60/3000, or even a 2kxl for that matter. Just my 2 pennies

Nah, the reason is they have sold more 2000's than 60's and 3000's put together.
Thus there are just more of them moving around.
Probably somewhere in the area of 38% of the 60 have been dogged out and stripped for parts.
Reason for 4000's is people got them and realized they still needed more so they are dumping them to get what they need.
Reason for 1000's is people think it's a small 2000 then find out it's not so they want something with the missing features.
If you use Recycle, SF, etc then the 1000 is ok, it just harder to be a stand-alone MPC.
At the GC here used 3000's was $1200.[/quote]
