mono or poly mode?

hy guys!

in what mode do you play your drums? (i have an mpc 60)

when i programm a drum groove it sounds very different when i switch from mono to poly mode?

next problem:

for example: i programm a straight drumloop 16tl hats and so on...(like havoc) everything is quantisized, but it don´t run straight.

it stucked a little bit, and when you here more intensive on the loop, you here, that sometimes the loop run a little bit fast and slower (bpm)

that sucks.

can you help me?

depends.....to cut off hi-hats you'd definitely want to set those pads to mono as you wouldn't necessarily want 2 hats to overlap each other and works especialy well for open to close hi-hat interruptions. As far as percussive instruments and such I tend to use poly as I enjoy them overlapping each other also creates a more realistic sound as you wouldn't normally hear a sleighbell, shaker, or tambourine cut itself off subsequently on every note.

Most of the breaks I chop up I'll assign my soft kick and hard kick to mono and all....snares i'd leave at poly.....let the natural decay overlap.....sounds real fresh.

That's all I have to say for now.

after rereading your post I have no effing clue what you're talking bout but then I am sure you're saying you'd rather set your SEQUENCES to QUANTIZE rather than NOTE OFF.....cus you said the pattern changes tempo or something which could be due to human error in the way you're tapping out your notation......i'm all confused and drunk as piss.....lemme get another glass of whine cus i'm straight RUI.
