Just got my 60

So here are the problems I notice right away:
1. Backlight is out, not too big of a deal, various threads on how to fix this.
2. The left arrow button above the play/rec doesn't work. So if I move from Seqc in the main screen I can't get back to it. WTF can I do to fix this?

That's all so far, and the fact that I need to go out and buy a desk.

replace backlight and replace the tact witch under the problem button.

Fuchk, I've been doing a lot of reading in the back articles and see that if your backlight is completely out the inverter is out not the backlight? Is this always true? I'm so freakin pissed cause dude said it was in 'perfect' working condition. I mean if you say it works perfect, it should work perfect, I mean above fix could be anywhere from like 45 to 100 bucks, added to the 640.00 i already paid. Damn it, why dudes gotta lie.

turn off all lights and see if there is any glow upclose. it doesnt mean your inverters bad, it could just be the backlight.

Yeah man do that test with the lights complete off in a dark room. Turn your MPC on if you see a glow from the screen then its fixable and completely DIY arena. If not you got more problems.
Take it from me reparing the backlight is a breeze just got to have steady hands and a lil patience.
I never repaired anything electronic before ever and I figured it out. Good Luck!

I just popped the lid to have a look around, well there are some wires that go to the display and seems that the brown one has been snipped and spliced, WTF! Here are some pics:

Could this be a possible cause for a non-operable backlight?

Sure, if the splices aren't making good contact.

change the backlight first then mess with it if it doesn;t work. That is if you can do the baklight yourself.

I'm gonna do the backlight myself, I did "resplice" and nothing changed, red went to red, gray went to gray, I wonder why they cut this wire only to splice it again? Maybe they tried to change the backlight once already and send out the display?

they probably closed the lid on it or something.
