Hey elmacaco, i figure since i gave you a free shaker sound you would be nice enough to help me out with this question please (just kidding) :)

I was wondering if you can make the start of your beat skip over itself like for a little intro buy pushing the start/play button and not having to push stop to be able to start you beat again and make it skip over itself. I hear a lot of producers do it that use the MPC3000 so there must be a way to do this without having to actually program it to play that way right?

To give you an example please listen to the very start of this beat and notice how it repeats itself and skips.

What is the easiest way to acheive this in the MPC3000?

Thanks a lot for your help!

I cant get one in my studio for a while. Its a complicated set-up and i cant add anything for a good while.

There has to be a better easier way that involves only the MPC3K internally right elmacaco ?.

the good news is this is very simple, the bad news is Im not sure my simple explanation will be enough for you to get it done.

I would create this same intro by creating a new 4 bar sequence and placing the sample hits at 1 and 3 on bars 1 and 3 and on the 1, 2 and 3 for bar 2 as well as bar 4 with a snare hit on the 4 and the hat on the "and" after the 4 or the 8th note. Im sure somebody else will be along shortly to go more in depth for you.

This is really easy.

Set the pad on mono and it will start over from the beginning and cut itself off when you keep pressing it. That's all it is.

I did keep that shaker ;)

You know that is a complaint I've heard before about the 3000. the one they use to do that is the ASR-10 I've heard. just hit the play button and restart the sequence.

But that's not what that song is doing, he's just sequecing the crach kick and the start of the loop, you can tell cuz how the little hihats come and go and when the beat starts he's still stuttering the loop but the beat stays on.

the sequencer lets you do this, but it isn't just the start button, it is a cool feature tho...

Oh Rohan... :D
