HELP: mpc 3000 sampling troubles

for some months i have not used my 3000.

tody i have sampled some vinyl but i the sound is horrible: i am missing the low frequences and there are a some noieses.

i tried several wires and sample sources: the sound was always horrible.

sounds i load from my pc via floppy into my mpc sound normal

what's the reason?

many reasons it could be, is your turntable grounded? that little wire makes a big difference, try sampling from a cd player to make sure it's the 3000.

yes, the turntable is groundet. when i am playing lp's the sound is good but when i am sampling from vinyl or other sources (using a dj mixer) the sound is horrible

using my dj mixer i don't get a clean sound

using my soundcraft mixer i get a clean sound but only when i am setting the gain button on the 3000 at low position

in the past i have always used my dj mixer and the mid position

i dont't know why that setup isn't still working proberly

any ideas?

Sounds like the gain structure, it might be going in too loud, perhaps there is some phase reversing going on with the speakers, did you change your wiring before all this happened? Check the polarity of your speaker wiring.

but my speakers work fine and when i am sampeling i turn off monitoring

the technical data of the mpc 3000 record input

gain high:

-58dBm 45k ohm

gain mid:

-38dBm 45k ohm

gain low:

-18dBm 45 k ohm

the technical data of my soundcraft mixer output:

+ 21dBu into 10 k ohm

impedance 75 ohm

unfortunately i can't do anything with these technical data

neither can we! Monitor through the 3000 and see if something is messing up even before the sample. did you sample from a cd to see if the MPC samples fine?

Check your wiring (make sure your not using faulty cables)
Check your sample source input
Check your mixer output (the one that is going into the 3000
If you have headphones try listening through headphones
Check your mixing console to see if your not receiving a bad signal from the 3000.

Usually the only time you lose low frequencies and it sounds like ish is when the turntable is not grounded as EL mentioned.

today i sampled directly from my cd player and my tr-808

no problems

only sampeling from the dj mixer don't work

but the dj mixer connected on my amp works fine

i can't explain it but i'm happy everything on my mpc works fine

Sounds like something between the Turntable and MPC, are you sure you are going through the phono ins on the Mixer from the turntable?

yes, i'm going through the phono ins on the mixer

turntable --> dj mixer --> amp --> works fine

turntable--> dj mixer --> mpc 3000 --> amp --> troubles, bad sound

turntable --> dj mixer --> soundcraft mixer --> mpc 3000 --> amp --> works fine (this solution is okay, the signal has to go through two mixers but the soundcraft m12 is a high quality mixer)

Hmm, it sounds like the DJ mixer is the offerned, is the Turn table properly grounded?

try swapping the channels of the DJ mixer and see if the other one behaves the same, seems odd that running it through another mixer would make it OK unless it was a grounding problem or something with the cables I would guess.

What model is the DJ mixer?
