File Recovery Utility for MPC60

If you find that one of more files have mysteriously disappeared from one of your MPC60 floppy disks, but the free space on the disk indicates that they are still there, the disk may have a damaged "directory". This utility may help restore the lost files. To use it:

Download the file http://www.rogerlinndesign.com/downloads/SYSTEM.zip

On Windows, uncompress the downloaded file using WinZip from www.winzip.com. On Mac, uncompress using Stuffit Expander, included in Mac OS. The uncompressed file is called 'system.sys'.
Copy this file to an MPC60-formatted floppy disk. (If this doesn't work, try formating a floppy to Windows 720k format in a Windows or Mac computer and copying the file to this disk. Don't use 1.4 meg disk format.)
Insert the disk in your MPC60's drive and turn power on. After about 20 seconds, instructions will appear on the screen to guide you through the process of repairing a damaged MPC60 floppy disk.

Roger says:

"NOTE: As of 8/16/05, this SYSTEM.ZIP is a new file. The previous file was corrupted and didn't work. Sorry for taking so long to notice this problem".

How is Rohan Mansell and why is he so good to us?

We may never know... just be grateful that he came to town!

Thanks Rohan, this is amazing.

What, no test team anymore since you got your 60? :D

Rohan is me and, well at the moment :-)

Test team wasn't part of the fix up this time.

Roger became the test and fix team for the file recovery utility.

I think that is fair ... He fixed one utility and I fixed the other.

No MPC60 yet and already performing magic tricks on it :-)

Looking forward to having a play mate for the MPC3000.

Cheers all,

Rohan.

Well, I guess Roger is a better tester :)

no 60 yet? Shouldn't it come soon?

Anyhow, This is great news. I Hope Roger is excited at how many people still love his MPC 60, I bet he is excited that you are going through all this code and carrying the torch on these units as t were.

Thanks Rohan, let me know when you get your 60 and I know you probably won;t have any but if you do have questions shoot em my way, roger may be a bit rusty on his 60 ;)
