That was dope. Monotonous but dope.

Drums were thumpin. Nice vibe overall.

The 60 is king.

Thanks for your comments. That was more of a test with older sounds, but it felt alright. I think I am going to sell the MPC3K and only keep the 60. I would never sell the 60, because it was my first serious piece of equipment and it has a sentimental value to me (i've had it for more than 10 years now...time flies, doesn't it).

you won;t be the first. just ide by side them before you commit to anything. I love that people are starting to really see how great the 60 really is. cats be scratching their heads ;)

Thanks all for your comments! I was thinking: how many of you would recognize a 60 in a blind test between a 3000 and SP? I am thinking about putting one together. Same beat, same sounds made on those three machines. IMO it sounds easier than it actually is to recognize the 60 (the SP is more recognizable, but even so...).

set up a blind test!!! make a poll!!!

I think I would be good at this since I've owned all three...but I could be mistaken.

SP is easy to spot.

3000 got more smack and punch than the 60 (in my opinion)...but I could always tell the difference in a bassy/heavy instrument ridden sample from the 3k and the 60. For instance...Donny Hathaway's song.."Love"...I did both the same on the 60 and the 3k and I can notice a difference in the overall sound of the sample (before I even threw drums into it)..same thing with a couple Gino Vannelli records I was playing with a couple months back.
