Short answer, No. Best to use DS/DD 720k disks unless you want to have to buy a new floppy drive eventualy.

There's also the 60 FAQ at the top of the page.

are you sure about the HD? i also read the FAQ and other sources about HD disk corrupt over time. But i use HD (with tape on the hole) on my sp1200 without problems.
I got HD disks which are 10 years old and no errors (yet....)

it's the drive that I worry about, you can get lucky for a while, but DD's are what it's expecting and they are cheap, and I am sure they ruid floppy drives, i've seen it and had it verified, it takes years tho, but the Drive of the SP-1200 costs like $60 so i'd spend $10 for 50 DD disks instead. it's in the FAQ, the magnetics are different.
