Can't get the mpc to play synth over midi

I have a microkorg trying to hook up to my mpc, I followed a guide I found on here with the same topic. I have done the following:

Midi out cable fro micro to midi in
Midi in on micro to Midi out A

Turned the Microkorgs local OFF

Turned soft thru ON for the MPC

Set Midi channel to 1 on Microkorg

I changed the MPC type from Drum to Midi

Turn the knob on Chn: so it reads "1A-Synth01A & OFF"

Active track recieve channel on the MPC is set to 1

But when I hit any pad I get no Audio output

I'm sure the cables are connected correctly because if i go Midi -> 1. Assign pads to Midi, I can hit the keys on the Microkorg and it changes which Pad its assigned to. Midi volume is set to recieve....I'm not sure what else I could check....anyone have any ideas it would greatly be appreciated.
