HELP!: loose wire

yo, sorry for the big pics. i'll take 'em down after my problem is fixed. i opened up my baby tonight and all of a sudden i found this loose wire! where it's connected to the other end says, "P2", i don't know where the loose end is supposed to go. do i need to solder it to something or what?

I bet you don't have a backlight working right?

i'm scared to power her up.

could that loose connection blow a fuse or cause other damage if it was touching something it wasn't supposed to? should i tape up the ends or something?

if you can't tell, , i'm quite the novice at this DIY electronic stuff and i don't wanna phucc it up more.

You probably shouldn't turn it on unless you just unplug it from p2 and take that whole wire out. Im not sure how the backlight is set up in the 60II since I have a I but that wire goes to the LCD for the backlight. From the pic it doesn't look like they were soldered so just check around the LCD and see if there are a couple places to plug those connectors into.

I think that P1 actually goes to the backlight, check the p1 wire and see if it goes up behing the display.

That's the inverter board, I suspect the black and red wire are the input voltage, check the power supply board, it looks like those wire ends came out of a ribbon connector that is probably still attached somethere without wires.

nothing major, it just supplies power to the back light, get back to us on that and if you find the connector be careful how you put the wires back get another pic of the PSU board and make sure you put them back the right way around.

don;t sweat it, should be easy to fix.

here's a pic of the backlight. note this pic was taken with the lid flipped up, so the top of the backlight is really the bottom and vice-a-versa. anyone care to edit this image with a red circle on the correct area? also, i need to know which connector goes where (i.e. one red, one black). all help is much appreciated!

el, P1 goes to the PSU board i think. there is only that one ribbon cable on the left-hand-side of the pic above connected to the backlight. this loose cable has gotta be for the backlight, no? but i can't figure out WHERE!

By the way the connectors are bent in the first few pics it looks like theyre gonna connect to the other side of your LCD. probably on the opposite side of the other LCD connector. You might want to unscrew the 4 screws at the corners and look at the other side.

man, ain't nothin' back there either. it's just the screen.

Yes there is ! Behind the 4 screws en the 10 metal lips is the EL-foil. Your wire should be soldered there.

aight, i'll take another look at it tonight but i need to know which wire is supposed to be soldered where. could somebody please pop theirs open and describe how to position them?

here is a pic of where i think the location is (on the other side of the panel?), and the 11 metal tips that you say need to be opened? which way do i turn them? sshhits look mad fragile. man, i should've just got a new backlight while i'm at it!

You probably don't need to turn those tips and open the LCD. Can you take a pic of the other side?

I don;t have a mk II and the backlight assemblies are slightly different, but yeah, 2wice is right, it goes to the backlight somewhere, the pic of the other side should make it clear.

el, would things go real bad if i accidently soldered the wrong wires (i.e. black and red getting mixed up)? or could i simply switch 'em around if the first try doesn't work?

man, i really don't wanna have to buy a soldering iron but i don't know anyone i could borrow one from. ain't that a bitsh!
