Renaming and changing charaicters.

I'm still very new tro my 3000le and i cant rename files for some reason. ive had a look through the searches on here and ive read the manual but when i try and rename a seq or file or anything only non letter characters come up. like ()*.
i can see the letters of alphabet above the command keys and wonder how i access them to rename something.

im sure its simple to resolve but a little help is needed! : ' )

For renaming a sound you do this:

- press Program/sounds
- press 7
- choose sound you want to rename
- press soft key 2 <Rename>
- press "+" or move the jog once
- use the jog / + or - / the chars written under the command buttons etc.

Remember, if you're stuck with something on the 3k you can always press the HELP button. I just tried it and when you press rename and then help it gives you the exact info I just typed above.
