Bass Sounds from MPC/S950..help with attack?

I've never really been able to put a bass sound in the 60 without having that "the bass is too high" popping sound. I'm trying to control the factory tone in the 950 to get a bass sound and all is well except for that damn popping noise at the beginning of each hit.

I was messing with the attack, but should I fool with the attack on the MPC or 950 filter? I suppose MPC but can't seem to find settings that work. Help me out if you can, I'm gonna leave my equipment on until I figure this mess out. Thanks!

add a tiny attack to the sample, not the filter
otherwise u could try....

turning the volume down on the bass ..
filtering before you sample....
making sure its mono if your using 16 levels...

btw have you recorded to tape yet on your akai recorder ?

yeah, I'll post up the beat I'm working on tommorow...

the bass sound is coming from the 950 though, so it's on like 8 levels haha...

I can't figure it out, I'll just do the filter down on the whole sample thing again, although that's getting to be a tired technique from me
